Located in the heart of the Klein Karoo, off the beaten track near Ladismith, this picturesque nature reserve is renowned for its wide variety of outdoor activities and adventures. Should you decide to stretch your legs and explore the region, there’s no better way to do it than on a guided horse-back excursion! Accompanied by a staffer, the two day circular trail will take you to a cabin in the kloof where you’ll stay overnight and fall asleep under the stars, to the soothing sounds of the jackal’s cry.

Then again, if you prefer to ride on an iron horse, you can always rent a mountain bike at the reserve office and explore the numerous 4×4 tracks in and around the reserve.

Although no formal trails have been laid out as yet, the striking landscape is definitely open to being explored on foot, and hiking enthusiasts are encouraged to stroll around the reserve and explore the deep valleys at their leisure. This breath-taking reserve is also home to fascinating animals and plants – and if you’re lucky you might spot a Cape mountain zebra, numerous antelope species, the black-backed jackal, caracal, riverine rabbit and brown hyena, not to mention over 180 bird species.
