To celebrate our national heritage we are giving the public a unique chance to access some of the Western Cape’s most beautiful protected areas for free, for just one week, starting on Monday 21 September, and running until Sunday 27 September.

The conservation fee for the entrance to any CapeNature reserve open to the public for access will be free for the week (see a list of those reserves here). The waiver of the access fee will pertain to general access (the conservation fee), day hiking (included in conservation fee) and other activities, including white river rafting (with your own canoe), mountain biking (with your own bike) or picnicking.  Normal rates will apply for accommodation and camping, horse riding at Anysberg, multi-day hiking, as well as concessions that are run by outside suppliers on our reserves.

With Thursday 24 September being Heritage Day, we think it’s the perfect excuse to take a long weekend, pack up the car, and explore the province a little. Whether you’re heading to the Garden Route, the Overberg, the Winelands , the Karoo or the West Coast, you’ll be able to visit a CapeNature reserve and find the peace and tranquility you need to get away from it all. And the best part is, you’ll be immersed in our natural heritage the entire time, celebrating the public holiday weekend as it is meant to be.

Dit is kosbaar vir ons en ons generasie. Dit puik om deel te wees wat voor bestaan en waar ons kan ondersteun.

Really proud of the cape nature team allowing the free access , specifically for those who cannot afford entrance fees. The timing will be so beautiful for first time entrants. Thanks once again for your generosity and our awesome reserves.
