Group Action Projects

29 Oct 2025

Here are the group action projects that you can earn points from this term:

1. Visit a Mountainous Area! Earn 200 for doing so!

Get ready to go from couch to crag, Cubs — one of this month’s action projects is all about visiting a real-life mountainous area right here in the Western Cape! Whether you trek through the Cederberg, wander the wild trails of Jonkershoek, or play explorer in the Hottentots-Holland, you’ll discover rocky paths, curious critters, and epic views that will make your socks do a happy dance. Take photos, spot cool plants or animals, and soak in that fresh mountain air, it’s like nature’s playground with a built-in obstacle course. So, grab your backpack, channel your inner mountain goat, and let the adventure begin!

    2. Tell a story about something that took place in a mountain area. Earn 150 points.

Time to put on your imagination hats, Cubs — this action project is all about mountain tales and magical memories! Your mission: chat with someone (like a grandparent, park ranger, or community elder) or even use a search engine and collect an epic story or oral history about the mountains in the Western Cape. Maybe it’s a legend about a hidden cave, a real-life adventure in the Cederberg, or a tale of leopards, lightning, and long hikes. Then, bring it to life, tell it to your pack! It’s like time-traveling with words, and trust us, mountain stories are peak entertainment!

      3. Time travel and relive an experience. Earn 300 points for your group.

Buckle up, Cubs — it’s time to hop into your imaginary time machines for a mountainous time-travel adventure! For this action project, you’ll zoom back in time to explore what life was like on a Western Cape mountain ages ago -maybe people painted on cave walls in the Cederberg or early explorers first discovered secret mountain paths. Use local history to dramatise an incident and time in history.

      4. Create a 3D poster about mountains and earn 25 points per interesting fact!

Get your glue, scissors, and wild ideas ready, Cubs — it’s time to craft a 3D mountain masterpiece! For this action project, you’ll design a pop-out poster that shows just how mountain-mazing the Western Cape’s peaks really are. Think clean water, cool animals, hiking fun, ancient secrets, and fresh air galore! Use paper, sticks, string, leaves — whatever you can find — to make your mountain poster jump right off the page. It’s arts and crafts, meets epic nature lesson, and the best part? You get to show everyone why mountains totally rock! ⛰️🎨
