World Wetlands Day 2 February
Wetlands - Where Nature Gets Its Feet Wet! 💦🌿
Splish, splash—it’s World Wetlands Day! Every year on February 2, people around the world celebrate wetlands, some of the most amazing (and soggy!) places on Earth.
Wetlands are areas where land and water love to hang out together, like marshes, swamps, ponds, mangroves, and even muddy riverbanks. Think of them as nature’s giant sponges wearing superhero capes 🦸♀️💧
Wetlands do some pretty incredible jobs. They soak up extra water during heavy rains to help prevent floods, clean dirty water like a natural filter, and provide cozy homes for frogs, fish, birds, bugs, and all sorts of wiggly creatures. Without wetlands, many animals would have nowhere to live and the planet would be a lot less splashy.
But wetlands need our help! Some are disappearing because of pollution, building, and wasting water. That’s why World Wetlands Day reminds us to protect these watery wonderlands.
So today, put on your imaginary gumboots, do your best frog jump, and promise to save water and care for nature. Because when wetlands are happy, the whole planet does a happy splash dance! 💃🌍💦
