CapeNature Wins Silver at International Tourism Film Festival Africa 2026

29 Jul 2026

CapeNature has once again earned international recognition, receiving a Silver Award in the Sustainable and Responsible Tourism category at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa Awards 2026. The award was presented in Johannesburg on 5 June 2026 for Green Noise Season 3, Episode 3: Honouring Culture and Ancestors, celebrating CapeNature's commitment to authentic storytelling that promotes conservation, cultural heritage, and responsible tourism.

The award-winning episode explores the significance of honouring culture and ancestors while strengthening connections between people, heritage, and the natural environment. Through compelling storytelling, CapeNature continues to highlight the importance of sustainable tourism experiences that respect both nature and local communities.

Now in its eighth year, the International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA) is recognised as Africa's premier tourism film festival and investment platform, bringing together filmmakers, tourism authorities, destination marketers, investors, broadcasters, media professionals, and policymakers from around the world. The 2026 festival attracted 438 entries from 47 countries, with 120 productions selected as finalists across tourism, conservation, culture, and destination marketing categories.

This latest accolade adds to CapeNature's growing success on the international stage. Following a Silver Award for the Damara Trail production in 2025 and recognition at the 2023 ITFFA Awards, CapeNature continues to produce high-quality content that inspires travel, promotes conservation awareness, and showcases the unique natural and cultural heritage of the Western Cape.

By sharing meaningful stories through platforms such as Green Noise, CapeNature reinforces its position as a leader in sustainable tourism, biodiversity conservation, and environmental education. These achievements not only highlight the organisation's dedication to protecting nature but also contribute to promoting the Western Cape as a world-class ecotourism destination.

Marine Protected Areas hold the key to human wellbeing

On 1 August, we celebrate Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) Day, a global occasion first marked in 2021 to recognise the role that MPAs play in conserving our oceans while supporting the wellbeing of people and communities. The day encourages us to appreciate the value of MPAs and the many ways they benefit both us and the extraordinary marine biodiversity they are designed to protect. This year's theme, "Ocean Protection Needs Human Connection," reminds us that conserving our oceans is a shared responsibility.
