Western Cape State of Biodiversity

“State of" reports are a vital component of CapeNature’s mandate to report on the health of both the inland and marine environments of the Western Cape. As required by the Western Cape Biodiversity Act (Act 6 of 2021), CapeNature produces annual State of Conservation Reports that feed into the broader Western Cape State of Biodiversity Report, which is released every five years.

These reports give a summary of ecological trends as well as snapshots of the current status of species, habitats, and ecological processes over the reporting period. This can assist CapeNature to better inform management decisions, enabling decision‑makers, partners, and the public accurate, science‑based information to guide conservation actions.
