Only campsite accommodation is offered at Limietberg Nature Reserve (Tweede Tol). There are both standard and private campsites available and caravanners are welcome

The Tweede Tol camp and picnic sites are located at the original tollgate of the beautiful Bainskloof Pass, built in 1853. The campsite has 20 standard sites, each with its own braai area.. The campsite is suitable for caravan

Camp Sites

Sites: 20, (maximum 6 people and 2 cars per site)

Shaded sites: Yes, some with shade, some with grass

Power points: No

Ablution facilities: Yes, ablution block with hot-water showers (Toilet paper is provided).

Swimming: Yes, in Wolwekloof River

Shop on-site: No

Eco-Logs/Charcoal for sale: Yes, available at the gate. Wood is not allowed at the reserve due to the shothole borer threat.

Braai facilities: Yes, at each site (bring own grid)

Pets welcome: No

Checkout time: 10h00 to allow staff to clean the campsite before guests arrive.

Private Campsite

Ideal for visitors wanting something more private. The private campsite is suitable for caravans, except for sites 22, 24, 25, and 26

Sites: 6, (maximum 6 people and 1 car per site)

Shaded sites: Yes, some with shade, some with grass

Power points:  No, only USB charging ports powered by Solar Electricity.

Ablution facilities: Yes, ablution block with hot-water showers (Toilet paper is provided). 

Swimming: Yes, in Wolwekloof River

Shop on-site: No

Firewood for sale: Yes, at the gate

Braai facilities: Yes, at each site (bring own grid)

Pets welcome: No

Checkout time: 10h00

Baboon Awareness:

Guests need to be aware that there are baboons on site.

  • Do not feed the baboons.
  • Donโ€™t leave any food within sight of baboons.
  • Close all windows and doors whenever you go outdoors.
  • When picnicking or camping, store edibles in your car boot.
  • Do not confront baboons or try to take items away from them.

Please note:

  • Eco-Logs are available at the gate office.
  • Bookings must be made in advance.
  • Overnight camping rates exclude conservation fees.
  • Campers have exclusive use of the Wolwekloof River swimming holes.
  • On departure at 10h00, campers may pay the conservation day fee and move to the picnic area.
  • Please bear in mind that our grass needs to breathe โ€“ please use ground sheet nets rather than closed canvas sheets.
