Discover the Best Outdoor Filming and Photography Destinations With CapeNature

5 Jul 2022

Whether you are a film production agency or a freelancer in need of multifaceted and spectacular natural settings, or an aspiring film student looking for the perfect playground to shoot your nature documentary CapeNature has the ultimate host of nature reserves to satisfy all your nature-inspired filming needs.

We have a well-established track record within the film industry, having collaborated with various production agencies on numerous feature films, tv-series, tv commercials, nature documentaries, music videos, and photographic shoots.

Our reserves command a wide range of breath-taking landscapes, magical forests, extensive dams, glistening waterfalls, gleaming rivers, and magnificent mountain passes to make for the best shots possible. CapeNature’s most favoured film locations amongst scouts, filmmakers, and production agencies include:

  • Jonkershoek Nature Reserve

  • Telkom Towers at Limietberg Nature Reserve

  • Rockview Dam Road at Kogelberg Nature Reserve

  • Theewaterskloof Dam area at Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve

  • Stadsaal Caves at Maatjiesrivier Nature Reserve

  • Tweede Tol at Limietberg Nature Reserve

  • Anysberg Nature Reserve

Unlike other reserves, CapeNature allows for the usage of drones on-site so long as users comply with local aviation regulations. Our research in fact indicates that drones limit the carbon footprint left behind by film producers as fewer production personnel are required to walk through reserves while less equipment such as helicopters and motor vehicles are needed to facilitate filming. Drones are also much quieter than motor vehicles and helicopters and don’t require a specific landing pad, both of which result in less damage to the environment.

To obtain filming permits for CapeNature’s reserves, complete an application form and send it to Permitz for processing and payment. For more information visit www.permitz.co.za or call Jackie Tranmere at +27 (0)21 200 0764 during office hours or +27 (0)82 880 4649 after hours. For more information about filming with CapeNature visit https://www.capenature.co.za/filming-and-photography-information.
