Our Nature reserves offer a wide selection of self-catering accommodation and campgrounds inclusive of wilderness, basic pop-up and luxury tented glamping campsites.
Here are five must visit locations to choose from:
1. Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve – near Swellendam
Situated only 2 ½ hours from Cape Town, Grootvadersbosch Nature reserve lies in the heart of the rustic Langeberg region between Swellendam and Heidelberg and nestled in between the Afromontane Forest. Wake up to panoramic views of an enchanted forest and a choir of chirping birds in arguably one of the most beautiful places in the Overberg. Visitors to this beautiful reserve will relish the opportunity to get out into the forest on day walks and mountain biking trails. This is an excellent birding destination with more than 196 bird species regularly spotted.
This reserve has a magical, fairy tale quality, leaving visitors with the lasting impression that they have stepped into another world. Hikers walk in the dappled light of the precious indigenous forest and swim in the cool tea-coloured river water while shaded by ancient trees.
This reserve now provides a variety of accommodation options, from comfortable and well-equipped cabins to a range of camping styles, with basic plots to private and convenient newly launched glamping tents.
