It’s a #CapeNatureWinter this 2022

10 Jun 2022

Plan your CapeNature winter holiday getaway now to beat the June school holidays rush. Save 40% on your next booking and watch nature come alive this winter.

CapeNature offers a host of reserves perfectly suited for family holidays, romantic getaways, and adventuring with friends.

CapeNature and the Rocklands partners have just kicked off their world-renowned winter bouldering season at Cederberg Wilderness. Every year, both seasoned and novice climbers flock to the Rocklands to test their skills on more than 1500 invigorating developed ‘problems’. If bouldering is not for you, Cederberg offers an incredible array of alternative fun activities such as hiking and walking, sports climbing, mountain biking, and exploring some fascinating historical rock art. After a long day of winter fun with family and friends, warm up and relax those worked muscles in the wood-fired hot tubs at the Garskraal and Rietdak cottages – and the Jacuzzis at Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve in Robertson. Both cottages have electricity and fully equipped kitchens for your utmost comfort and convenience during your winter stay.

Whether you are a couple in love or a family with different ages and interests, Kogelberg and Stony Point nature reserves jointly make for the perfect winter holiday for all. Located around Betty’s Bay and only 13km away from one another, the reserves offer a comprehensive assortment of exhilarating and easy-going activities. Set up base camp at Kogelberg’s extremely popular Oudebosch Eco Cabins or the newly installed Mbali Collection, each of which have several first-class 2 sleepers for romantic couples and multiple 4-6 sleepers for larger friend and family groups. Grab a cosy front row seat to nature with Mbali’s and Oudebosch’s glass fronted cabins or relish in the fresh fynbos-filled air on their quaint wooden decks. Immerse yourself in the heart of the Cape Floral kingdom by taking up some white-water kayaking, whale watching, mountain biking, wildlife watching, swimming, and hiking and walking. Conclude your adventurous winter holiday by taking a leisurely walk along Stony Point’s penguin boardwalk where you can guarantee your kids or significant other will leave smiling.

June to December is also the best time to see dolphins. Ideally located near the reserve offices yet fully surrounded by nature, the Buffalo Valley Lodges can cater for groups of up to 6 people. The three lodges are all out of sight and sound of each other with complete privacy, providing each with its own unique environment within the 150-hectare conservation area.
