Action project A – Visit a place where you can learn about the wonders of nature

Have your group visit a natural history museum, an aquarium, a science centre, a careers expo, an open day or even a nature reserve where learning about nature takes place. Snap a picture of your group and send this to us to earn 200 points!

Action project B – Teach your group something about nature in the Western Cape

Whether you do a lesson or a fun practical activity, give your group the chance to learn something new about the natural world of the Western Cape – an indigenous species ideally. Let us know what you taught them and earn 100 points.CapeNature has an extensive learning library, for ideas visit it here.

Action project C – Learn or make up a poem or short play about nature and record it as a video

Have your group make up a fun poem, rap or song about nature or an environmental topic or even create a short play (e.g. water saving, climate change, biodiversity) or a specific species that is under threat (e.g. African penguin). 

Have them recite the poem/play and send us a video of the recital and earn 200 points!

Action project D – Celebrate International Environmental Education Day

Celebrate International Environmental Education Day on 26 January 2025, in any way that you see fit. Have a get together, make a poster, share a little about this day on social media, do something to help the environment, take a pledge for the environment or even use the day to do one of the action projects listed above. Tell us how you celebrated this day and earn 100 points.

World Wetlands Day 2 February

Splish, splash—it’s World Wetlands Day! Every year on February 2, people around the world celebrate wetlands, some of the most amazing (and soggy!) places on Earth.

Wetlands are areas where land and water love to hang out together, like marshes, swamps, ponds, mangroves, and even muddy riverbanks. Think of them as nature’s giant sponges wearing superhero capes 🦸‍♀️💧

Winner Leaderboard

Between November and January, our members showed incredible creativity and commitment to protecting our natural spaces. Gershone Hans earned a whopping 300 points by designing an eye-catching poster and writing a thoughtful poem focused on the importance of protecting our mountains.
