State of Conservation Report 2020

This is the first annual State of Conservation Report for the Western Cape. This succinct and visually rich report provides an overview of the status of priority conservation indicators as at the end 2019.

The report highlights achievements, challenges, impacts and urgent actions required. Significant gains, particularly the expansion of the conservation estate are celebrated.

CapeNature’s Protected Areas are important for conserving ecosystems and species, as well as for socio-economic upliftment through job creation opportunities, particularly in the rural areas. These areas serve to protect the ecosystems that deliver important related services to people.
