Individual Action Projects

28 Nov 2024

Action Project A – Read about nature together or read alone, outdoors

Reading allows us to create and live in an imaginary world. If you don’t have a nature area nearby, find a book or magazine that is about something natural and enjoy a cosy moment indoors to read about it. If you are lucky enough to have a safe nature area nearby, try reading under your favourite tree or somewhere outdoors.

Send us a picture of your book/magazine and reading spot and earn 100 points!

Action Project B – Get a friend to join the Cubs Club

We know that CapeNature’s Cubs Club is all about learning, so why not get a friend to join? Let us know your friends name and the date that they joined and earn 100 points per person that joined the club because of you!

Action Project C – Learn something new about nature in the Western Cape

Pick your favourite animal or plant that is local (indigenous) to the Western Cape and see if you can find a fascinating fact about it on the internet or from a book. Let us know what your animal or plant is and what the new fascinating fact is that you found about it and earn 100 points per fascinating fact!

CapeNature also has a really great resource library, and you can visit it here.

Action project D – Celebrate International Environmental Education Day

Celebrate International Environmental Education Day on 26 January 2025, in any way that you see fit. Have a get together, make a poster, share a little about this day on social media, do something to help the environment, take a pledge for the environment or even use the day to do one of the action projects listed above. Tell us how you celebrated this day and earn 100 points!

World Wetlands Day 2 February

Splish, splash—it’s World Wetlands Day! Every year on February 2, people around the world celebrate wetlands, some of the most amazing (and soggy!) places on Earth.

Wetlands are areas where land and water love to hang out together, like marshes, swamps, ponds, mangroves, and even muddy riverbanks. Think of them as nature’s giant sponges wearing superhero capes 🦸‍♀️💧
