Concessionaire opportunities for activity based operators

CapeNature has identified activity-based tourism as an exciting new business sector and invites operators to submit proposal for consideration. We hereby request potential new business partners, concessionaires, and/or service providers operating within the adventure, cultural and heritage, and events sectors to submit detailed business proposals for keen consideration.

Activities: Adventure, Culture, Heritage and Events

Background

CapeNature invites prospective parties within the adventure, cultural and heritage, and events sectors to submit a detailed business proposal. The expression of interest call is based on CapeNature’s annual strategic plan.

Requirements

  • Must have an environmentally conscious business model
  • Must be able to exhibit proven skills and experience in managing a similar business operation
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years Tourism experience, preferably in the Adventure or Culture & Heritage tourism sector, with a proven track record of success
  • Must provide own skilled staff, preferably from within the local community closest to the selected reserve operation
  • Must provide a detailed operational model
  • Must have a mapped booking process in place with terms and conditions
  • Must have a safety guide and emergency incidents model
  • Must be able to market the proposed activity independently
  • Must provide an overview of the proposed marketing strategy and plan
  • Must have all relevant accreditation and insurances such as public liability, in place
NB: Please note that site visits are highly recommended for interested companies to gain a better understanding of the respective nature reserve.

Proposal

Proposals must include:

  • Background of business (including any primary business)
  • Background of business owner
  • BEE certification
  • A detailed description of the proposed activity and benefits thereof to CapeNature and its customers
  • Operational model, including staff and infrastructure requirements. Staff complement from the local community is recommended.
  • Financial model exemplifying sound and sustainable financial planning. The financial model should include the return on investment and clearly show the benefits to CapeNature. A 5-year financial model is recommended.
  • A Marketing strategy, with 1–2-year roll-out plan & key initiatives
  • Job creation and local community benefit
  • Location of sites on the respective reserves

Proposal delivery and closing date

Closing date for proposals:

3 November 2025 @ 12:00 NOON.

Proposals must be submitted via Wetransfer to the email address tourism@capenature.co.za

All proposals must be confirmed separately on email

Please note that CapeNature reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to review all proposals submitted and to determine whether or not to proceed with any such submissions.
